OUR BACKGROUNG
The establishment of the Forum for Muslim Women in Leadership in Uganda comes at a critical juncture where the empowerment and active participation of women, particularly Muslim women, remain essential to fostering an inclusive and equitable society. Despite their significant numbers and contributions, Muslim women in Uganda often face systemic barriers that limit their engagement in leadership and decision-making processes across social, political, and economic spheres.
Recognizing these challenges, the Forum seeks to create a dedicated platform that acknowledges and nurtures the unique potentials of Muslim women leaders. Rooted in faith and driven by a commitment to justice and inclusivity, the Forum aims to empower Muslim women through tailored mentorship, skills development, and educational opportunities that respond to their specific needs. By championing their representation and advocating for supportive policies, the Forum addresses gender disparities while promoting religious freedom and respect for diversity in Uganda’s evolving leadership landscape.
Moreover, the Forum prioritizes building strong networks of solidarity and collaboration among Muslim women, fostering environments where ideas, knowledge, and innovations can flourish. Through strategic research initiatives, it also contributes to national development by generating evidence-based insights that highlight and solve challenges impacting Muslim women and their communities.
In essence, the Forum for Muslim Women in Leadership in Uganda is committed to transforming society by ensuring Muslim women emerge as influential, visionary leaders. Their enhanced participation not only strengthens their communities but also cultivates a legacy of resilient leadership that drives sustainable progress nationwide.
